Floating Points To Make Boiler Room Debut At Free NYC Show This Week

Floating Points

Boiler Room is bringing Floating Points to New York City for a free show this week.

Following a sold-out New York world tour stop last weekend, the renowned London-based party promoter and livestream outfit will stick around in the Big Apple to host a five-hour, open-to-close set from the heralded British electronic musician, composer, and DJ at to-be-announced venue in Brooklyn this Wednesday, July 17.

Lengthy, experimental sets have been paramount to Floating Points’ coveted DJ performances through the years, touching every genre from acid techno to ambient, but the show, which runs from 6:30PM to 12AM, will mark the first time he’s delivered a proper extended set for the club culture giant.

Equally, if not more, acclaimed for his high-brow instrumental pursuits, such as his Mercury Prize-nominated jazz album, Promises, and ballet score, Mere Mortals, Floating Points—real name Sam Shephard—has recently been diving back into his dance music roots.

Last week, Shepherd announced his dancefloor-focused fifth studio album, Cascade. The nine-track follow-up to 2019’s Crush is said to honor the club music that shaped his sound after a focus on experimental sonics in its predecessor. It features previously released club singles like “Vocoder,” “Birth4000,” and “Del Oro,” in addition to his latest, “Key103.”

After Floating Points’ performance in Brooklyn this week, Boiler Room’s 2024 World Tour run will continue with stops in Seoul, Berlin, Washington D.C., Los Angeles, and more. Since its launch in 2010, the brand’s trademark 360-degree live sets have garnered over 200 million combined views across YouTube and its online archive, featuring more than 8,000 performances by more than 5,000 artists in 200 cities, per Billboard.
