John Digweed “Very Ill And In The Hospital”

John Digweed

John Digweed has been hospitalized, leading to the cancellation of three gigs last weekend.

The legendary British progressive house DJ and producer’s management team shared that “John is very ill and in the hospital” in a statement posted to Instagram on Saturday, September 28.

The statement continued to confirm that he would miss his scheduled performances for last weekend, including a solo gig in Guadalajara and joint performances with longtime collaborator and B2B partner Sasha in Mexico City and Dallas, before closing, “We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused his fans, but we ask you to please join us in wishing for his speedy recovery.”

No further details about the nature or severity of Digweed’s illness have been shared at the time of writing. However, a statement posted to X, formerly Twitter, by Bar Americas, the Guadalajara club where Digweed was scheduled to play on Thursday, September 26, says that he has been hospitalized in Los Angeles since Monday, September 23. “Let’s hope the big boss recovers soon,” the club added.

In a statement shared with EDM Tunes, Cookie Presenta, the promoter for Digweed’s Mexico City show, which continued with a solo performance from Sasha in his absence, said Digweed’s “health condition is very delicate and uncertain at the moment.”

“John gradually became ill and he thought what he had was something temporary,” the statement reads. “We have been waiting for John to make a statement about his health, but the fact that he is not able to publish anything personally is something that worries us. John’s agent has also expressed the same to us.”

News of Digweed’s illness has been met with an outpouring of support from fellow DJs on social media, with artists like Sasha, Hernán Cattáneo, Dubfire, Fatboy Slim, and others sending well wishes.

Next month, Digweed is slated for a joint show with Sasha in London on October 11 and a solo show in Glasgow on October 12 before bringing his Bedrock Records showcase to Amsterdam Dance Event on October 16. It is unknown if his hospitalization will impact the upcoming gigs.
