LEGO Recreation Of Daft Punk Alive 2007 Tour Goes To Fan Vote For Commercial Release

Fans can now vote for Daft Punk’s iconic Alive 2007 live show to be immortalized as a LEGO set available for purchase.

The project, which recreates the legendary French electronic duo’s 2007 world tour setup in detail, from its colorful pyramid stage down to Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo’s famous robot helmets, has been submitted to LEGO’s Ideas platform, which invites amateur builders to propose ideas for LEGO new sets.

LEGO enthusiast Patrick Harboun and his then 8-year-old son, who’ve made the submission under the screen name “RobotRock,” first dreamed up the idea for the 2,000-piece motorized LEGO set in 2020 as a “fun father son-collaboration” when the pair found themselves “needing a creative escape during lockdown,” Harboun wrote in the project’s official submission

It soon won the grand prize in LEGO’s “Music To Our Ears!” competition, which encouraged fans to “show off their love of music using LEGO bricks” for a chance to have their set sold commercially, but it wasn’t selected to become an official set.

“But now we’re feeling inspired to Get Lucky and try One More Time after seeing the Daft Punk making their LEGO debut in the upcoming film Piece By Piece, robot-rocking their amazing helmets alongside Pharell Williams,” Harboun wrote.

“Both huge Daft Punk fans, this build is a fusion of 2 passions,” he continued. “I spent my teenage years listening to ‘Homework’ on my Walkman, while my son’s 1st favorite baby song was ‘Get Lucky.’ It felt only natural to blend our love for Daft Punk’s music with our love for LEGO.”

The project, officially titled “Daft Punk Concert,” has already received over 700 votes and has 421 days to reach 1,000 total votes to enter the next voting phase. If achieved, the set would have 6 months to generate 5,000 supporters, followed by another 6 months to earn 10,000 supporters before earning an official review from LEGO.

In May, LEGO superfan and DJ Megragadó Gladiátor Ezredes working LEGO replica of the Pioneer CDJ 2000 Nexus was advanced to the company review phase on LEGO Ideas after earning 10,000 supporters.

One of the duo’s most ambitious live undertakings following a lengthy performance hiatus, Daft Punk’s 32-date Alive 2007 tour gave birth to its namesake Grammy-winning album, Alive 2007, which was recorded from their performance at at the Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy arena in Paris.
