Kraftwerk To Celebrate 50 Years Of ‘Autobahn’ With 2025 North American Tour

Kraftwerk

Electronic pioneers Kraftwerk have just announced a huge tour of North America in 2025.

The world-famous German foursome’s “Multimedia” tour will see Kraftwerk hit the road for 27 headline performances, celebrating the 50th anniversaries of their first-ever U.S. tour, and groundbreaking album, Autobahn.

The tour will open in Philadelphia on March 6 and make further stops in cities like Toronto, New York, Miami, Detroit, Chicago, Denver, and more before closing in Dallas on April 24. The “Multimedia” run will also include the groups previously announced appearances at both weekends of Coachella. Check out the full list of dates below.

Now often considered electronic music’s single most influential pioneers, Kraftwerk was formed in 1970 by Ralf Hütter and Florian Schneider, the latter of whom died in 2020 after a battle with cancer. Hütter, now 78, has continued to perform alongside several rotating members, currently Henning Schmitz, Falk Grieffenhagen, and Georg Bongartz.

When the band first arrived on American shores in 1975, not long after the release of Autobahn in 1974, its inorganic minimalism and trailblazing use of synthesizers hadn’t yet won over the masses.

After all, the album’s title track, supposedly inspired by the thrill of driving on Germany’s high-speed highway, is over 22 minutes long. But eventually, the band’s avant-garde robot pop would inspire the likes of Depeche ModeDaft Punk, and Radiohead, and lay the groundwork for Detroit techno.

The upcoming tour, announced today with a comedic video featuring longtime fan Tony Hawk, will see Kraftwerk embrace the album’s iconic sound with new visuals and live performance art elements.

Pre-sale registration for Kraftwerk’s 2025 “Multimedia” Tour is now open here. Pre-sale ticket access will begin on Wednesday, December 11 at 10AM local time. General on-sale will follow on Friday, December 13 at 10AM local time.
