DRUMSHEDS could have its license revoked after two drug-related deaths and a non-fatal stabbing were reported at, or after, events at the London superclub, according to a report from London Centric.
The first incident reportedly took place on Saturday, October 12, when a 27-year-old man was taken to the hospital and later died after attending a show at the 15,000-capacity warehouse venue in North London, according to the Metropolitan Police.
On Saturday, December 7, a 29-year-old woman reportedly died in the hospital after attending an event at DRUMSHEDS. Both incidents are believed to be drug-related, according to police.
London Centric also reports that a non-fatal stabbing happened inside the former IKEA venue on Saturday, November 16. The victim was taken to the hospital after the stabbing, but no arrests were made.
Following the incidents, DRUMSHEDS was subject to an emergency licensing review by the Metropolitan police on December 12. London Centric reports that the licensing committee ruled that venue operator Broadwick Live could keep its license with additional safety requirements and oversight from council officers and police.
Another licensing review is scheduled for Tuesday, January 7, where the Enfield Council, which presides over the borough of London where DRUMSHEDS resides, will decide the venue’s fate.
The news follows intense criticism of DRUMSHEDS operations at an event on December 13, with claims of two-hour entry lines, unsafe overcrowding, and “aggressive” security and search measures. Complaints have been logged on a website demanding that the venue is “held accountable” for the issues and features a petition seeking refunds for attendees.
