Lightning in a Bottle is still a few months away but will be here just before you know it. The festival will be taking place at Lake San Antonio in Bradley, CA once again on May 23-28.
I attended this festival for the first time last year and it was life changing. Here are a few reasons why Lightning in a Bottle will be one of the best events this summer and one you cannot miss!
The Art
The art you see at Lightning in a Bottle is unlike anything you have seen at any festival. Large-scale sculpture art installations are scattered throughout the festival grounds and are a great place to chill and relax while listening to the music at the nearby stages. The stages and structures are also carefully made which transform your festival experience with their uniqueness and style. They also have a unique live painting experience and all weekend you will see artists creating beautiful murals and paintings everywhere.
Learning & Culture
My favorite part of Lightning in a Bottle is the experience through learning events and the culture. Last year they introduced The Compass which consists of talks and discussions, workshops, wellness and healing, and cultural offerings. It is meant to “bring a renewed focus on connecting activism and grassroots organizing to our core ethos of education, healthy living, environmental stewardship, and cultural respect.” They have over 150 talks and discussions with experts and visionaries, workshops where you learn new skills and can practice it yourself hands-on, sessions with bodyworkers and healers to restore and heal you, and more.
The People
The people you meet at Lightning in a Bottle are the most open, unique, and kind-spirited people. You meet these people by participating in events the festival holds throughout the weekend and exploring the festival itself and engaging with the people that surround you. LiB is considered a transformational festival so attendees often feel as if the festival has changed them in a way, whether mentally, physically, emotionally, or spiritually. This is one of the highlights of attendees of the festival so make sure to go in with an open mind and be respectful of others.
The Music
Last but not least, the best part of all is the music! This year you can catch Zhu, Griz, The Glitch Mob, Tipper, Nicole Moudaber, Yotto, MK, and many more at LiB. Bass heads will mostly enjoy the Thunder Stage and the Techno and House fans will love the Woogie Stage. Lightning in a Bottle is a great place to discover unfamiliar artists and genres. I spent last year roaming through all the stages all weekend and was introduced to new favorite artists!
