Medellín-based techno label Mammboh Rhythms has rallied artists from around the world for a charity compilation album to raise funds for communities affected by the devastating earthquake that shook Colombia this week.
Titled United for Colombia, the 32-track project dropped on Bandcamp yesterday and features productions by renowned artists from across the global underground, including label founders Sons Of Hidden and Serge André, as well as Lars Huismann, Maōh, Obscure Shape, Isaiah, Brennan Grey, Fixon, Fresko, and many more.
One hundred percent of album proceeds will go toward earthquake relief efforts for communities in Chocó, Pereira, and Cali, as well as for many Colombian electronic artists who lost their homes when the 7.4-magnitude earthquake struck western Colombia on Monday.
“This is one of those moments when, as a community, we show the values that have been built into the foundations of our movement,” Sons Of Hidden said in a statement. “It’s time to come together for those who need it most today. Let the music never stop, because it hasn’t always been about celebration, it has also been about resistance.”
As of last night’s estimate, at least 265 people died, and nearly 500 people were reported missing in the aftermath of the earthquake, though civilian-run databases estimate the total number of missing persons at more than 4,100, per AP News.
Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella, who took office three days before the earthquake, told journalists in Bogotá yesterday that more than 25,800 families have been affected. Colombian authorities said the number is expected to rise, as ongoing search-and-rescue efforts have been hindered by several aftershocks.
