End Overdose is rallying the live entertainment industry to get 10,000 people naloxone trained by the end of the month.
The nonprofit opioid overdose prevention organization is marking Overdose Awareness Month with a campaign that empowers hospitality leaders, artists, creators, and public figures to expand awareness around the overdose reversal drug and drive people to End Overdose’s free online overdose-response training.
Naloxone, which can revive a person from an opioid overdose in minutes, is one of the most important tools in combating the opioid epidemic plaguing the U.S. in recent years
In partnership with AEG Presents, Insomniac Events, Breakaway, and Tao Group Hospitality, End Overdose aims to train 10,000 people by International Overdose Awareness Day on August 31. The campaign continues the organization’s ongoing partnerships with these live entertainment leaders.
Over 65 events in the last four years, End Overdose has worked with AEG Presents to train over 31,000 people and distribute nearly 50,000 doses of naloxone on site at events like Coachella, Stagecoach, and Portola. Since 2022, End Overdose has tabled at 134 Insomniac events, generating 6.2 million in-person impressions, distributing over 225,000 doses of naloxone, and training more than 160,000 people, including almost 950 Insomniac staff members.
Elsewhere across the scene, End Overdose’s partnership with Breakaway has brought resources and education to 33 events, trained nearly 15,000 people, and distributed over 20,000 doses of naloxone since 2024, while in the last three years, the organization’s work with Tao Group Hospitality has educated over 2,500 staff members and distributed more than 5,000 doses.
On the artist front, ILLENIUM’s longstanding partnership with End Overdose has reached more than half a million people through the DJ’s tours, live events, streams, and digital content. The melodic bass superstar has helped the organization train thousands in overdose response, distribute over 2,000 doses of naloxone, and raise over $25,000, which ILLENIUM matched with a $25,000 donation of his own.
The campaign has also been made possible by Amneal Pharmaceuticals, which donated 25,000 units of naloxone this month in support of Overdose Awareness Month.
