Neumonic’s new single, “Massive,” is just that.
The rolling UKG stinker arrives on the Stateside garage innovator’s own homegrown label, Nawty Records, today, building out the imprint’s burgeoning catalog as its first standalone single release from the label boss.
Marked by screeching low-end bass leads, spacey drum beats, atmospheric vocals, and a dash of dub siren, “Massive” follows “Low Down Deep,” the artist’s Night Bass collab with UK heavyweights Hypho and PAV4N, as the latest of several wobbly UKG cuts that have further posited Neumonic as one of the genre’s foremost American torchbearers.
So far this year, the California-based producer and DJ—born Nick Neumann—has unloaded 11 new originals, including landmark releases such as his awaited Deadbeats EP, Nightmares, featuring the much-rinsed “What?” with Mary Droppinz; the People Just Do Nothing-sampling “Grindah Groover” on RamonPang’s Tabula Rasa; and “Little Bitta This,” his collaborative contribution to Nawty Records’ label-launching VA compilation, RaveStation Vol. 1.
Between studio sessions, he’s also leveled up his touring calendar this year across major appearances for Zeds Dead’s Deadrocks, Deadbeats Miami Music Week, and Brownies & Lemonade, in addition to his longstanding residency at The Untz Festival. Next up, he’ll roll on to more shows with Chicago Garage Authority, Minnesota’s heralded Infrasound Festival, Los Angeles’ System Error, and San Diego’s new Temper Festival through the end of the year.
