Armin van Buuren And The Trance Community Remember Two Cali Ravers Gone Too Soon

It’s crazy when “life” happens.

Sometimes we get far too distracted by what’s going on around us that we forget what’s most important. Whether it be stress at work or school, financial issues, or maybe even the barista at Starbucks made your drink too hot or too cold — whatever it is, it’s without doubt that these small issues aren’t really “issues” at all. It’s in these moments where we need to stop, take a look around us and actually, in a way, be thankful for them. Without these issues, we would be nothing. We wouldn’t be living life.

It is in these moments where we forget that life is simply too short to be anything but happy. We forget to be grateful for what life has given us, and the seemingly small things that make life worth living.

With that said, it was with a heavy heart that in the last few days, most of us learned about the passing of two incredible people close to our community. Two incredible friends, two incredible sons, two incredible ravers.

Andrew Fang and Marvin Capulong were indubitably some of the nicest people many people have ever encountered.  Their infectious personalities, their passionate love for trance music and their deep hearts are really what made them some of the most unbelievable people to be around. Both of which were gone far too soon this past week, just days from each other.

There’s something to be said when something so tragic like this happens. Although painful, and although difficult, there’s something to be said about how people come together to celebrate and honor those we have lost during times like these. When something like this happens within our community, (the “EDM” community if you will) it hurts not only because we were so close to these people, but it hurts because they were such great people. Whether it be their amazing vibes at a festival, their endearing personalties, or their incredible Instagram accounts (@edmboys) these two people impacted peoples lives and made people feel.

Back to my last point — there’s something to be said about how the EDM community has reacted to all of this. The community has displayed an outgoing show of support to their friends and family, have donated thousands of dollars to cover funeral costs, and have come together to honor these two amazing people. I have never seen anything this incredibly beautiful in my entire life. Strangers have come together, just like they do on random dance floors, to celebrate these two people’s lives in more ways than one.

Social media has been ablaze the past few days with moving images and videos of these two people many of us knew so well. But it hasn’t stopped there.

With the help of people around the country, the community was able to reach out to one of the biggest DJs in the world to share Andrew and Marvin’s story. Armin van Buuren learned about these two amazing people and dedicated a special moment during today’s ASOT episode to them, by asking his friends and family to stay strong. It was 20 seconds of something so poignant and something Andrew and Marvin would be absolutely elated about. It would’ve been a moment they would have never forgotten. It’s something a lot of us never will.

So even in the darkest hours, in the most hurtful and painstaking moments, there’s so much be thankful for. There’s so much to celebrate. Whether it be our friends, our family, or just seeing the sunrise. It’s almost like you never know what’s going to happen tomorrow. And you really don’t.

The intangible things and intangible moments are really what makes life worth celebrating.

In the past few days I have seen that even in these somewhat dark moments, people can (and should) come together to do just that: celebrate life.
