City Of Indio Spares Goldenvoice From Head Trip Curfew Fines

Head Trip

Indio is sparing Goldenvoice a nearly $50,000 curfew fine following Head Trip.

The City of Indio issued a statement yesterday saying it will not penalize the promoter after Swedish House Mafia’s headline performance at Goldenvoice’s one-time-only dance festival ran more than 30 minutes past the city’s midnight curfew, Palm Springs’ KESQ reports.

City officials cited the weather-related circumstances that disrupted Head Trip’s opening night as the reason behind the decision.

The EDM supergroup closed the festival on Sunday night, wrapping up their set at approximately 12:33AM the next morning. Under a permit governing Goldenvoice’s festival operations at the Empire Polo Club, where they also produce Coachella, performances must end by 1AM on Fridays and Saturdays, and midnight on Sundays. Violations carry an initial $20,000 penalty, plus an additional $1,000 for each minute past curfew, starting at six minutes after curfew.

Under those terms, Sunday’s extended performance could have cost Goldenvoice about $48,000.

On Head Trip’s first night, a lightning alert forced organizers to suspend programming and evacuate festivalgoers around 9PM, interrupting Chris Lake and FISHER‘s Under Construction performance and preventing Scottish dance music superstar Calvin Harris from taking the stage.

To salvage the festival’s headlining performances, organizers revised Sunday’s schedule to accommodate Harris ahead of Swedish House Mafia, adjusting several set times and extending the festival’s final night beyond its permitted closing time.
