Avalon Hollywood just upgraded to a new state-of-the-art sound system.
Designed by club founder and custom sound designer John Lyons and Insomniac’s Pasquale Rotella, the system debuted during SIDEPIECE’s Hollywood Block Party Afters on October 3 and powered the club’s headline appearance from Alt8 last weekend.
Lyons and Rotella teamed up with leading loudspeaker manufacturer Void Acoustics and stereo-to-spatial audio company Areal to outfit the famed LA nightclub with a system “that goes beyond what you hear,” Lyons said in a statement. “Something that changes how you experience the music.”
The hi-fi system is designed to deliver the power and physical impact electronic music needs while introducing an immersive sound experience, thanks to Areal tech that transforms traditional stereo mixes into spatial audio, according to a press release.
As principal of John Lyons Systems, Lyons has designed and deployed sound systems in more than 500 venues worldwide. According to Rotella, he’ll keep refining the system at the club on the corner of Hollywood and Vine as they aim to bring the custom setup to future Insomniac events.
“We will refine our new sound system on the Avalon dance floor, then in collaboration with John, we will expand it over time across all our Insomniac events around the world,” the Insomniac founder and CEO said in his own statement.
Lyons added: “You should walk into Avalon, feel the music, and immediately know you’ve come to the right place. That’s what we’re after.”
You can hear the new system at upcoming Avalon Hollywood events such as Chromeo, GAG, Emo Nite, Innellea, Deathpact, Riot Ten, Barely Alive, Clawz, and Andy C through November 26.
