Bas Oskam aka Noisecontrollers is on a roll since venturing out into the world of one man productions. Since his latest album, “All Around,” this Hardstyle pioneer has taken it upon himself to diversify the sound that is Hardstyle and is bringing a whole new twist to the stomping kicks at 150 PLUS beats per minute.
His latest album is OUT NOW and in celebration of All Night Long and his headlining set at this year’s Q-Dance stage at the second annual Mysteryland USA, we thought we’d catch up with Bas and get the insider scoop on all the Hardstyle madness that is yet to come!
Your latest track “All Night Long” which you released on your own label, NoiseControl Records, dropped just last month! Tell us about what inspired you to go “all night long” and how it came to be.
All Night long is the most “mainstream” track on the album and it has this typical Noisecontrollers feeling in it. I cant remember if it was actually by night I produced it haha. But the rest of the upcoming album was also produced at night :-) I loved the catchy vocal in combination with the chords. The idea was there and all was needed to build the track.
Your new album is out. Care to share some details with us?
Yes, it’s very experimental studio album but also has many new Noisecontrollers tracks on it. Its much more diverse as my precious work although Noisecontrollers has always been know to be a little out of the box. This album has influences of DnB, Dubstep, house and even has a soundtrack on it :-)
What is your take on Hardstyle’s evolution in the states?
I don’t know. I try to produce as much new tunes with the euphoric and Noisecontrollers sound. And when I play in the states I want to bring them the best hardstyle of the moment. It’s great to see the scene here growing and im proud to contribute to that. Hardstyle is amazing.
From Defqon1 in the Netherlands to Mysteryland here in the states – how does the festival experience vary across countries for you?
In the end when playing it comes all down to enjoying hardstyle together on a high volume and party!. But of course every place is different cause of so many variables. Difference in culture, scene and line-ups all play a role. But its always great and it makes it interesting.
Standing as a Hardstyle pioneer and true influencer in this scene, where do you think Hardstyle will be on a global scale in 1 year? 5 years?
I truly can’t tell and I am actually happy about that. Because if I knew I would anticipate on it and that’s something I don’t want. In the studio I want a blank mind and just see what happens. As always I first make music for myself to enjoy. After I can only hope my fans like it too.
Finally, what does Hardstyle mean to you?
Hardstyle means so much more than just a genre of EDM. To me it made all my dreams come true. Brought me so many amazing experiences and it truly changed my life. Noisecontrollers exists 10 years this year and those were the most amazing years of my life.
