Above & Beyond Earn First Certified Gold Record For “Don’t Leave”

Beloved trance and progressive trio Above & Beyond have just won their first RIAA Gold-Certificate for “Don’t Leave,” a track from their 2019 album Flow State.

The RIAA Gold certification indicates 500,000 units moved for the song, which as part of Flow State was a shift away from their typical sounds, instead designed for use during meditation and yoga.

The commercial success of “Don’t Leave” has been helped by Amazon Music, which has put specific attention into promoting meditative tracks since the advent of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The gold certificate is also the first for the Anjunabeats and Anjunadeep labels, on which Above & Beyond have released all of their music.

The success of Flow State helped inspire the creation of Anjuna sublabel Reflections, which focuses on ambient and wellness music.

Paavo Siljamaki – one-third of Above & Beyond – celebrated the gold status for “Don’t Leave” last week with a sunset yoga session on the roof of the Amazon Music building in Brooklyn. The session was hosted by longtime collaborator and Flow State contributor Elena Brower.

“Our music has always been about getting in touch with, and understanding and accepting our emotions,” Siljamaki told Billboard. “After those amazing yoga sets, we realized that there is a bigger place for this more reflective music within our little universe.”
