Above & Beyond’s Paavo Siljiamäki Revives Solo Alias P.O.S & Reveals Upcoming Album

Paavo Siljiamäki, one of the members of the heavyweight trance group Above & Beyond, just revived his solo alias, P.O.S, and is prepping to release his debut album, Deeper Tales, later this year.

As a writer, producer, DJ, and third member of Above & Beyond, Paavo is a founder of the London-based label Anjunabeats, has been nominated for a GRAMMY twice, and has headlined some of the biggest festivals on the planet.

Now Siljiamäki is ready to return to his solo project and reconnect with the dance floor for his debut solo album under his P.O.S alias.

In making the album, Siljiamäki was inspired by a succession of personal and health-related challenges these past few years including several battles with COVID.
Speaking about his mindset, he said “I had a burnout, basically. I just couldn’t see what I wanted to do. And after my burnout, I was like: ‘What is dance music to me? I don’t really know even if I like it. I’ve heard – I’ve written – too many build-ups!’ So I thought: that’s me done. ”

But Deeper Tales reflects on his past and current experiences by returning to the soulful, heart-on-sleeve club records that first enraptured him when he was 15.

The first track is a rework of Kyan Kuatois’s “Lonely River,” and Siljiamäki has also partnered with anamē for the rework, the new project consisting of Marcus Schössow (previously one-half of gardenstate) and Thomas Sagstad. The three all previously collaborated in 2022 on the emotional track “Gratitude.”
