It has been a long awaited two years since the world first heard Alesso remix “First Step”, the theme song from the movie Interstellar, composed by Hans Zimmer.
On Christmas morning, Alesso and the Sentinel brothers have released their collaboration together, a progressive house remix that has reached a galactic audience. The remix is aptly named “Interstellar” which pays homage to the movie and to Hans Zimmer himself.
Alesso, real name Alessandro Renato Rodolfo Lindblad, and Sentinel; real names Tim, John and Michael Sentinel; have not collaborated together since their wildly successful release of “Only You” back in 2022.
“Interstellar” was first teased around that time at Balaton Sound in Hungary, which can only mean the release of this remix was years in the making.
Fans were skeptical that the track would be cleared due to copyright from Hans Zimmer, but the sample was finally cleared and the release of the remix came as a holiday surprise.
This track takes the ethereal melody of Hans Zimmer’s original “First Step” and combines it at the drop with the progressive house back track that makes up Alesso’s signature sound. Sentinel adds a layer of deeper house sounds, overall combining classical and dance music to make a festival anthem that is already seen as timeless.
“Interstellar” has been played at Tomorrowland, Bonnaroo, Ultra, and more festivals worldwide, becoming a staple in Alesso sets.
