Anyma has linked up with Massano and Nathan Nicholson to release his latest single, “Angel In The Dark,” coinciding with a live debut at the first night of his historic residency at the Las Vegas Sphere.
The melodic techno star and Afterlife co-founder became the first electronic artist to headline the high-tech venue when he brought his hypnotizing beats and famously striking visuals to the Sphere’s advanced sound system and massive curved LED display on Friday night.
In line with the Italian artist’s penchant for boundary-pushing show production, the first night of Anyma’s eight-date “End of Genesys” run show was billed as a “cybernetic opera,” featuring the world’s first robotic cello duet, as well as the live debut of his latest single.
Released on the day of the show, December 27, “Angel In The Dark” wraps Nicholson’s ethereal vocals in a cacophony of atmospheric textures, driven by thumping kicks, pulsing basslines, and swirling synth stabs from Anyma and fellow genre heavyweight Massano.
On opening night at the Sphere, the track was accompanied by a brand-new visual sequence from Anyma—real name Matteo Milleri—and his digital art collaborators Alessio de Vecchi, Tobias Gremmler, and Alexander Wessley, plastered across the Sphere’s 580,000-square-foot LED wall. Watch here.
Anyma will play his fourth consecutive night at the Sphere tonight ahead of two more dates on New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day. The shows through January 1 will showcase the artist’s “cybernetic opera” concept with three distinct acts, closing the musical era marked by his renowned audiovisual show and debut and sophomore albums, Genesys and Genesys II.
Last night, Anyma welcomed Ellie Goulding as a special guest during his Sphere performance. The vocalist helped debut their new track, “Hypnotized,” which is set for release on January 10, the same date Anyma returns for his final two shows at the Sphere, from January 10-11.
