Armin van Buuren’s A State Of Trance (ASOT) festival is heading back to Rotterdam this winter.
The genre icon and label co-founder announced the news on the brand’s famous namesake radio show today, confirming that the iconic trance event will take place at Ahoy Rotterdam on February 21-22, 2025.
After last year’s edition saw A State Of Trance expand to two days and find a new home in Rotterdam after being held in Utrecht for over a decade, the festival will return as a weekend event this year in partnership with Insomniac Europe, a new independently operated continental division of the United States’ leading dance music promoter.
Fans can expect another top-notch trance lineup with performances to take place across five stages. Chief among them will be a unique 5-hour set on day one, Friday, February 21, in which van Buuren will invite several artists to join him on stage for a massive back-to-back performance. On Saturday, February 22, over 25 DJs will perform, “truly showcasing the best the trance music scene has to offer,” according to a press release.
Last year’s festival featured leading trance artists like Cosmic Gate, Ferry Corsten, John O’Callaghan, 8Kays, and Paul Denton, among others, as well as the debut of the festival’s A State Of Trance Hotel, which will return this year. Additional details and the 2025 lineup will be shared in the coming months.
“Last year we saw a huge expansion, not only moving to Rotterdam but also turning this festival into a two-day experience with our very own hotel, two shows, dozens of artists, speakers, events and all kinds of activities,” Armin van Buuren said in a press release. “This really feels like a new chapter for us and I am excited to see what we can achieve together.”
Founded by van Buuren and fellow Dutch star Ruben de Ronde in 2001, A State Of Trance began as a weekly radio show spotlighting the best of the genre. The namesake festival soon followed and remains a cherished annual pilgrimage for trance fans around the world.
