Avicii’s Debut Album “True” Celebrates 10 Years With Unseen Footage And New Vinyl Releases

Ten years ago this week, dance music legend Tim Bergling—known around the world as simply Avicii—released his debut studio album, True

Though Avicii’s tragic death by suicide in 2018 at the age of 28 rocked the EDM community and music community at large, True has remained a cherished piece of the Swedish producer’s legacy. A full decade later, its groundbreaking, genre-melding production continues to inspire musicians and fans alike.

Iconic tracks like “Wake Me Up” and “Hey Brother” are still played across the globe, allowing Avicii’s spirit to live on, while acting as a beacon of support for a scene that still misses him dearly.

Just last month, “Wake Me Up” became the first song by a Swedish artist to break two billion streams on Spotify, and now True will deservedly receive its flowers as well.

In celebration of the album’s anniversary, Pophouse Entertainment has teamed up with Universal to release never-before-seen footage of Avicii’s True Tour, as well as behind-the-scenes videos depicting the creation of “Addicted To You” and “Long Road To Hell.”

Fans can now watch these decade-old moments on Spotify and Instagram and even hold a tangible piece of Avicii’s lasting legacy, as the standard edition of True has been re-released in a new, blue-colored vinyl pressing.

The album’s 2014 remix counterpart, True: Avicii By Avicii, will also be released on vinyl for the first time ever.

Pophouse—which acquired 75 percent of Avicii’s catalog last year—additionally helped to establish the Tim Bergling Foundation to raise awareness for mental health issues and worked to curate music for Avicii’s posthumous album TIM.

Roll back the years by listening to True in full below, and visit Avicii’s official online store to grab your copy of the new vinyl releases.
