Barclay Crenshaw has just announced a new U.S. tour kicking off in Spring 2024.
Just a few weeks removed from announcing the hiatus of his beloved house alias Claude VonStroke, Crenshaw has dived headfirst into the project that takes on his real name.
He’s sold Dirtybird, dropped a new collab with Of The Trees and Strategy, opened for Of The Trees at Red Rocks, announced a gig at Electric Forest, and has now unveiled the Open Channel tour, which will share a name with his forthcoming album—also coming this Spring.
Explaining the ethos of the album and tour on Instagram, Crenshaw wrote, “When I was a kid my Dad had a CB radio he would use to talk to truckers and avoid police speed traps. My brother and sister and I used the open channels on that radio to try and contact aliens. We saw the movie E.T. and believed it was possible.”
“Open Channel can also mean a way of communicating with your friends on a special network,” he continued. “Years later, I’m still looking for aliens but I’ve changed my communication channel to music.”
Barclay Crenshaw’s Open Channel tour will kick off at New York City’s Webster Hall on March 8, 2024, before making other key stops in Chicago, Detroit, Los Angeles, Portland, and more. Additional dates will be announced ahead of the tour’s closing at The Concourse Project in Austin on May 4, 2024.
The tour will feature support from plenty of other talented leftfield bass players, including Eprom Tiedye Ky, LYNY, and Super Future, among others. Crenshaw has also employed the talents of digital artist Gabriel Hall—aka LightBender—for all new visuals throughout.
Pre-sale registration for tickets to Barclay Crenshaw’s Open Channel Tour is now available here. Tickets will go on sale this Friday, December 8 at 12PM ET.
