Bassnectar Steps Back From Music Industry Amid Sexual Misconduct Allegations

Over the last month, famed drum and bass producer and DJ Bassnectar has faced allegations of sexual misconduct by several women via social media platforms. Last week, an Instagram account with the handle @evidenceagainstbassnectar shared information and details regarding the misconduct. In response, Bassnectar released a statement via Facebook to dispel rumors. Per Bassnectar, “The rumors of sexual misconduct that are circulating about me are completely untrue. I want to leave it at that, because it truly is that simple.” He continued on to confirm that he supports women and has denied that these allegations are true.

As of today, Bassnectar has confirmed that he is stepping away from the spotlight and will be placing his career on an indefinite hold.

Via social media, Bassnectar released a post again denying the validity to the allegations and will be passing on his nonprofit Be Interactive to his team. He confirmed he will be discontinuing his involvement in both the organization and his music to “work together toward healing.”  Per the post, Bassnectar states “The rumors you are hearing are untrue, but I realize some of my past actions have caused pain, and I am deeply sorry.” Bassnectar has been a regular on tours and the festival scene including Coachella, Bonnaroo, EDC, Electric Forest, Lollapalooza, and many others.

Response from fans to his announcement has been mixed with signs of support for the producer that are saddened to see him take a break from music. For now, the electronic music community will need to await further news regarding the allegations.
