Bassnectar Sued For Human Trafficking And Sexual Abuse

Bassnectar and his management are being sued for human trafficking and sexual abuse.

Philadelphia attorneys Brian Kent, Stewart Ryan, Alexandria MacMaster, and Phillip Miller have announced the filing of a lawsuit against Bassnectar (Lorin Ashton) as well as Amorphous Music Inc., Bassnectar Touring, Inc., Redlight Management, Inc., C3 Presents, L.L.C, and Interactive Giving Fund. The firm is representing two survivors of sexual abuse and child exploitation.

The lawsuit discloses that Bassnectar sexually abused minors and that both Bassnectar and various management companies engaged in a human trafficking venture. Bassnectar is also accused of “manufacturing and possessing child pornography.”

The lawsuit will look to hold Bassnectar and other divisions of management accountable for the years of abuse and trafficking. Last year, an Instagram account was created for young, underage women to come forward and disclose in detail any instances or encounters of sexual abuse with Lorin. Other survivors of abuse are encouraged to come forward and have their voices heard. Philadelphia attorney Brian Kent had the following to say about the lawsuit,

“We have seen a true reckoning in recent years of powerful individuals and institutions finally being held to account for years of sexual abuse against adults and minors. But we have only begun to scratch the surface of how these influential figures and entities can go on for years committing abuses without being held responsible. This lawsuit is about seeking justice not just against Bassnectar but against the corporations that cooperate in and help facilitate the abuses he is alleged to have committed.”

Since the lawsuit was filed on April 5, Bassnectar’s attorney Mitchell Shuster has publicly denied all allegations, claiming that the allegations were quote, “outrageous.” Just last July, Bassnectar took a step back from music due to multiple allegations of sexual misconduct which appeared on the Instagram page that was created for those who experienced instances or encounters of sexual assault by “grooming, coercion, and manipulation.” Despite these claims, Bassnectar’s attorney is denying all allegations and publicly commented to NME that,

“These outrageous claims – which were clearly designed for the media, rather than for the courts – are completely without merit, and we eagerly look forward to proving so.”
