Skrillex and Peggy Gou Rise To The Top Of Beatport’s Annual Best-Sellers List For 2023

Digital dance music marketplace Beatport has shared its final “Beatport Insider” report of the year, revealing 2023’s best-selling artists, record labels and tracks on the platform.

Skrillex was both Beatport’s top-selling and most-streamed artist this year, following the superstar’s February release of Quest For Fire and Don’t Get Too Close, his first two full-length LPs in nearly a decade following 2014’s Recess.

The nine next best-selling artists on Beatport in 2023 were, in order, Fred Again.., FISHER, Anyma, David Guetta, Dom Dolla, John Summit, Kevin McKay, Chris Lake and HUGEL.

Peggy Gou’s viral track “(It Goes Like) Nanana” and its catchy vocals beat out FISHER’s “Take If Off” for Beatport’s top-selling track of 2023, among a field of top-ten tracks entirely comprised of house music.

Four Tet, Skrillex and Fred Again..’s “Baby again..,” took third place, with Beatport’s top-five best-selling tracks rounded out by Murphy’s Law (UK)’s “Ain’t No Other Man” and MK and Dom Dolla’s “Rhyme Dust.”

Differing slightly from the best-sellers list, Beatport’s top-five most-streamed tracks of 2023 were “Take It Off”; Mau P’s “Gimme That Bounce”; “Baby again..”; Westend, Noizu and No/Me’s “Push To Start”; and John Summit and Hayla’s “Where You Are.”

Mark Knight’s house institution Toolroom Records celebrated its 20th anniversary in style, becoming Beatport’s top-selling label of 2023 ahead of Tale Of Us’ melodic techno imprint Afterlife Records, Insomniac Records, Glasgow Underground and Adam Beyer’s Drumcode.

The final “Beatport Insider” report of 2023 also included the platform’s “Old Gold” chart, which tracked the top-ten best-selling tracks over the past six months that were released before 2010.

DJ Maze’s patchwork track “90’s Classic Acapella” took the No. 1 Old Gold spot ahead of Solomun’s vox mix of Noir and Hayze’s “Around,” Mark Knight’s remix of Florence And The Machine’s “You’ve Got The Love,” and Oliver Dollar’s “Doin’ Ya Thang.”
