Beatport has once again diversified its musical offerings by launching a new genre: Trance (Raw/Deep/Hypnotic). This will split the current trance classification into individual categories.
Now the two individual categories are Trance (Raw/Deep/Hypnotic), focusing on the underground names in the music style, and Main Floor Trance.
Main Floor Trance has five subgenres: progressive trance, tech trance, uplifting trance, vocal trance, and hard trance.
Trance (Raw/Deep/Hypnotic) has three subgenres: raw trance, deep trance, and hypnotic trance.
This new category is led by underground names pushing the boundaries of trance like John 00 Fleming, Jerome Isma-Ae, KI/KI, Basil O’Glue, Maruwa, and Blue Hour.
Beatport’s VP of Global Curation, Raphael Pujol said about the split, “At Beatport, our dedicated curation team is committed to showcasing the diversity of dance music. Today, we celebrate this mission by recognizing the Trance community and providing them with a platform to thrive within our ecosystem.”
The new classification is a win for trance fans as they can explore the deeper and more varied sub-sounds of the genre while allowing those unfamiliar with it to hear artists that could get lost in the larger “trance” label.
