Dominican artist Wakyin has finally released his TikTok viral, Latin-inspired track “Beso (Fruta Fresca).”
This danceable single is actually a remix of the hit single “Fruta Fresca” by Carlos Vives, his first number-one on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart and a three-time Latin Grammy-nominated record.
Inspired by his Dominican and Puerto Rican roots, Wakyin, real name Christian Rivera-Joaquin, reworked the classic with the traditional lively music he grew up with into the electronic sounds prevalent today.
Adding an element of emotion and depth to the traditional piece via smooth dance elements, Wakyin crafts something that’s unique and enticing.
Now Wakyin’s rework has taken the internet by storm, garnering 18M+ views on TikTok alone and bringing Latin-fused dance music back to the mainstream.
