Beyoncé Pays Homage To House Music With New Single “BREAK MY SOUL”

House is once again breaking into the mainstream with the single from Beyoncé entitled “BREAK MY SOUL.” The song samples iconic house music songs like Robin S.’s “Show Me Love” and “Explode” from Big Freedia.

The beat is reminiscent of a disco-era vogue track with the vocal elements of the gospel-inspired house. These, of course, accompany Beyoncé’s stunning voice.

This track teases Beyoncé’s first new solo album in six years. The full work, entitled Renaissance, drops at the end of July. A British Vogue article stated inspirations as “90s garage, 80s excess, a glittering retro-futurism.” Not much is known about the album, but EDM fans hope for more dance-ready tracks.

Beyoncé is one of the most awarded artists in mainstream music. Across her solo career and her time with her past group Destiny’s Child, she has been nominated for 79 Grammy’s,  winning 28 of them.
