Festival season is in full swing in Philly, and we’ve got you covered with all the essential info for Breakaway Philadelphia 2026.
For the 10th stop on its nationwide summer run, the touring festival returns to the festival grounds at Subaru Park in nearby Chester, Pennsylvania, on September 11-12, marking its second consecutive edition in the City of Brotherly Love with performances from more than 20 leading dance DJs overlooking the Delaware River.
From headline sets by heavyweight artists like Tiësto, Marshmello, ISOxo, and SOFI TUKKER to good eats, pre-parties, and afters, there’s plenty happening at the festival and across the city for Breakaway weekend. Get the full scoop below.
Start early
Breakaway Philly is still one month away, but the music is already pumping. Across the city, festival organizers have partnered with local promoters and venues to host several official pre-parties to get you hyped in the build-up. Plus, with on-site giveaways at each event, fans can enter for a chance to secure free festival tickets.
The run continues this week with a special open-decks pre-party from Philadelphia’s Dance For Soup and Helix at Tempo tomorrow, Thursday, August 14. DJs are invited to show off their skills and compete for a performance slot at the festival next month. Competition sign-ups start at 8PM, with the winner to be selected by popular vote at 11PM. The show is free before 10PM, and guests can grab food and drink specials all night long. On Saturday, August 15, it’s techno night at XOX, featuring sets by local artists Horizon, DJ Tweak, and Bluewvve.
The following weekend features another official pre-party at Vinyl on Friday, August 21, with sets from Alec B2B Six, E-Paine, Frankie Ford B2B Ashana, and Nathannarcc B2B Derek Jocelyn. The next evening, Saturday, August 22, Pulseline hosts five hours of house music from Alec, Dev, Ollie Redd, and Tyler May at Stratus Rooftop Lounge, offering sweeping views overlooking the city.
An hour’s drive away in Atlantic City, Weekday Underground gets the wider region involved with a free party at Anchor Rock Club on Friday, August 27, soundtracked by local DJs Sersol, Big Body Kito, Joey G, and Sunday Double.
Getting there
Sitting just down the river from downtown Philadelphia, less than a two-hour drive from Allentown, Atlantic City and Baltimore, and less than three hours from New York and Washington D.C., Breakaway’s conveniently located festival site adjacent to Subaru Park gives dance music fans across the Mid-Atlantic an opportunity to catch several of the world’s electronic acts all in one place.
The festival venue is also less than 10 miles (about a 20-minute drive) from the Philadelphia International Airport. Fuel up
On site at the festival, Breakaway Michigan hosts plenty of food and beverage vendors serving hot food, cold drinks, and non-alcoholic beverages, including branded activations and freebies from Celsius, White Claw, BeatBox, Jack Daniel’s, Hiyo, and Jimmy John’s. But to ensure you’re fueled up and ready to party, there are also plenty of Philadelphia restaurants and bars good for a bite or pre-fest cocktail.
It wouldn’t be a trip to Philly without a cheesesteak from Geno’s or Pat’s King of Steaks, the city’s two dueling top spots for the staple. Other popular favorites include old-school Korean BBQ at Kim’s Restaurant, soul food from South, renowned sandwiches at Middle Child, Dim Sum Garden, and pizza (and another damn-good cheesesteak) at Angelo’s in South Philly. Steps from the convention center, Reading Terminal Market hosts a wide variety of local food vendors.
For a drink, look no further than the city center. McGillins is a quintessential Philly bar experience, as is Bob and Barbara’s, the originator of Philadelphia’s famous “citywide” beer and shot combo. You can also taste a laundry list of hard-to-find craft beers at East Coast staple Monk’s Café or get your dancing in early at popular local dive Drinker’s.
Bust a move
Breakaway Philadelphia’s sophomore edition features another genre-diverse lineup of dance DJs to keep you moving and grooving until the fireworks fly. This year’s bill is lead by headline sets from Dutch legend Tiësto, masked superstar Marshmello, trap sensation ISOxo, and chart-topping house duo SOFI TUKKER, but there’s lots more talent in the undercard.
In-demand names like AVELLO, Whethan, Deathpact, ARMNHMR, Klo, Capochino, and Machaki throw down all sorts of bass sounds, while house favorites such as CID, Devault, Layton Giordani, HILLS, Swimming Paul, Starjunk 95, and Tavatli, offer a wide variety of 4/4 grooves.
New Jersey’s Rich DietZ, New York’s Gazza, Boston’s RLPZ, live electronic ensemble 2ŁØT, and Philadelphia selectors Brainrack and JULS make up this year’s regional support on the main lineup, while the festival’s Jimmy John’s silent disco serves up sandwiches and beats by additional local talent. Party late
When the festival ends at 12AM, Breakaway’s nightly official afterparties keep the party going at venues across the city. Night one brings a Deathpact DJ set to The Ave Live and a headline set from AVELLO, with additional support from Duffy and Showboats B2B RYN, to Barstool Sansom Street on September 11.
