For the second time in six weeks, a Brooklyn Mirage patron has gone missing, prompting an investigation from the NYPD.
According to a Reddit post, 27-year-old Goldman Sachs analyst, John Castic left the Mirage to take an Uber ride home at around 2:30AM on Saturday, July 29, following Zeds Dead’s headlining performance at the venue that evening.
The post made by a friend in search of Castic describes him as “6’1”, slim build, brown hair, blue eyes.” The post also includes photos of Castic, who was last seen wearing a navy and white button-down shirt, as shown below.
Castic’s last registered location on the Find My Friends app was 1131 Grand St., Brooklyn, which is less than half a mile from the venue.
This location is not far from where Karl Clemente’s body was found one week after he went missing from the Brooklyn Mirage on June 11, although it is important to note for now, there is no proof of any correlation between the incidents.
The NYPD has now officially declared Castic as a missing person, is working with his friends and family to obtain leads, and has requested information from Uber to confirm whether his ride ever happened.
Castic’s friend Sara Kostecka wrote in a Facebook post, “I’ve heard rumors from people about being asked to hop in a taxi/cab from some creepy people near the Mirage – reminder to stay safe and check in on your friends.”
NYPD encourages anyone with information regarding the disappearance of Castic or the death of Clemente to report the info using their Crime Stoppers Tip Line: 800-577-TIPS. Information can be reported anonymously and cash rewards may be available.
Update 3:45 PM
A body found in a creek near the Brooklyn Mirage has been identified as John Castic.
Several NYPD boats responded to a 911 call that described an aided individual in Newtown Creek at around 11:30 AM today.
In a written statement sent to DailyMail.com, NYPD officials said:
“Upon arrival, officers observed an unidentified and unconscious male floating in the water. NYPD Harbor units removed the aided male from the water. EMS also responded to the location and pronounced the aided male deceased on scene. Pursuant to an ongoing investigation, the aided male has since been identified as John Castic. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner will determine the cause of death.”
According to Fox News Digital, NYPD called Castic’s family to deliver the news just after 2PM.
“They have found his body and confirmed it’s him,” his father, Jeffrey Castic, told Fox. “It appears to have been death by misadventure. His wallet and phone were found on him.”
The body of Karl Clemente, who disappeared from the Brooklyn Mirage last month, was also found in Newtown Creek.
