Burning Man has unveiled details on its 2025 ticket sale, featuring a new tiered pay-what-you-can pricing model.
Following a $20 million revenue shortfall due to low attendance last year, the annual non-profit music and arts gathering in Nevada’s Black Rock Desert announced this week that base ticket prices will be lowered to $550 for this year’s early ticket sale, followed by $650, $750, $950, $1,500, and $3,000 price tiers.
In an effort to keep the event “financially accessible and culturally diverse,” each price tier is subject to availability, with those who can afford it invited to purchase tickets for $750 or more, subsidising the lower priced tickets.
The estimated cost to produce Black Rock City in 2023 was $749 per participant, according to organizers, meaning tickets purchased at this price or higher help other Burners attend at a budget they can manage, fund art grants, and cover operational costs.
“This means YOU are helping to bring more dusty humans, and sponsoring more participatory art, Radical Self-expression, joy and awe in the wondrous city we all build together,” organizers wrote on the Burning Man website.
Tickets purchased for $1,500 and $3,000 will go directly to subsidizing ultra-reduced tickets through Burning Man’s Ticket Aid program, which finances trips to the playa for applicants with limited financial means.
Burning Man will return to the salt flats of Northwestern Nevada’s Black Rock Desert from August 24-September 1.
To grab the new low-price tickets, prospective burners must register for Burning Man’s “Today Sale” by Tuesday, February 11, at 12PM PT. Ticket access will begin the following day on Wednesday, February 12, at 12PM PT.
