Today, Carl Cox has announced his first-ever show in the metaverse.
The legend of dance music will perform a 30-minute set in the Sensorium Galaxy digital metaverse, a virtual concert space, as part of the free show “Intermundium” on Friday, October 27 at 3PM ET.
While Cox won’t be there physically, a hyper-realistic digital replica of the dance music icon will be on hand at the cutting-edge performance.
Cox’s avatar—brought to life by technologies like XR, AI, Motion Capture, and the Unreal Engine’s 3D creation tool—will cultivate the vibe inside of PRISM, Sensorium Galaxy’s new hot spot for electronic music.
Discussing the ground-breaking concept, Cox said, “I truly understood what was possible when I first saw my avatar and literally did a double-take! I thought, ‘This is now a reality – or should I say virtual reality?’ It has been really interesting to see things develop to the point where I can share my experiences with like-minded individuals anywhere on Earth – or beyond!”
In addition to Cox, other high-profile DJs like Eric Prydz, David Guetta, Black Coffee, and Charlotte de Witte will also headline shows inside of the virtual rave space, collectively referred to as “The Chosen Ones.”
The metaverse has already played host to Dutch house DJ Oliver Heldens—or rather his digital avatar—who performed a 15-minute set alongside Manchester City soccer star Jack Grealish during an event titled “Mixing in the Metaverse.”
The Intermundium premiere with Carl Cox will be available to watch for free on the Sensorium Galaxy website, YouTube, and any of Sensorium Galaxy’s softwares, available via the Apple App Store, Google Play, and Steam.
