Carl Cox Postpones Movement Music Festival Appearance Until 2026

Carl Cox

Carl Cox has postponed his previously announced headline set at Detroit’s Movement Music Festival.

In a statement posted to the British techno legend’s Instagram Stories today, Cox announced that he won’t make the trip to Movement this year due to scheduling complications, but will return to play the historic house and techno festival in 2026.

“I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may cause, but I promise to make it worth the wait,” Cox wrote. “When I return, I’ll bring my full live show experience, and it’s going to be epic!”

Cox, who was announced as part of Movement’s 2025 lineup in December and was scheduled to bring his heralded Hybrid Live set to the festival, will be replaced by Detroit techno icon Jeff Mills as Movement’s day one headliner.

“To be able to play in Detroit is and has always been a special kind of magic,” Mills wrote in his own statement. “Detroit is the place that understands the power of music and the value of a soulful and moving experience.”

Movement Music Festival will return to Detroit’s waterfront Hart Plaza this Memorial Day weekend, May 25-27, with more than 115 renowned DJs and live electronic acts, including Charlotte de Witte, John Summit, Sara Landry, Mau P, Nina Kraviz, Sammy Virji, and many more.
