Chris Lake And Chris Lorenzo Drop Surprise Anti Up Track, “MONEY”

Anti Up is officially back, three days earlier than promised.

Just a few hours ago, tech house icons Chris Lake and Chris Lorenzo dropped a surprise track under their collaborative alias on SoundCloud. “MONEY” featuring Olly Burden marks their first new release in nearly two years.

And in an even more astonishing twist, it’s a drum & bass tune.

Demonstrating both producers’ quick-witted sampling prowess, the currently SoundCloud-exclusive “MONEY” opens with an obscure vocal sample from the 1963 propaganda film Perversion for Profit

Listeners hear news reporter George Putnam—narrating the film—proclaim, “The United States Supreme Court has described it as ‘dirt for dirt’s sake.’ We describe it as dirt for money’s sake,” before a rapidly paced hi-hat gives way to Burden’s shout-along vocals and a raucous bassline that keeps time with the track’s quick tempo.

Just yesterday, the pair announced that their new double-sided single, “The Weekend / Control The Media,” will arrive this Friday, April 5. Now, in the build-up to their Coachella performance next weekend, astute fans awaiting the duo’s first new music since 2022’s “Chromatic” have been rewarded for their patience.

After Coachella’s January lineup announcement confirmed that Anti Up would be heading back to the desert, Chris Lake was quick to respond to online fan speculation that new music would follow. He confirmed, “Yes, album done,” on X, formerly Twitter, and house heads have been in a frenzy ever since.

Though Lake and Lorenzo have yet to set a release date for the full project, the sneak peak coming with “The Weekend / Control The Media”—both coveted IDs from their recent sets—should provide a taste of what’s in store.
