Cloonee has announced his debut album, Are You Still You?
After teasing the forthcoming project yesterday, the UK-born house chart-topper confirmed that his first full-length LP will arrive via his own Hellbent Records label on October 6.
“14 years ago I embarked on my journey,” Cloonee wrote on Instagram yesterday. “Finally, I sit in a position of contentment ready to present my debut album.”
In the culmination of a decade-plus catalog that lays claim to this era’s biggest house hits—“Stephanie,” “Sippin’ Yak,” “X-Rated,” “The Ciggie,” “Free Your Mind,” and many more—the Sheffield-hailing, now LA-based producer and DJ’s forthcoming album is said to showcase his artistic evolution from playing underground clubs to the world’s biggest stages, blending the infectious grooves that have become his signature with a more expansive and personal creative vision, according to a press release.
“One comment I’ve seen throughout my career is, ‘bring back the old Cloonee,’” the artist said in a statement shared today. “The funny thing though, there’s an equal amount of people that ask for a different Cloonee, this Cloonee & that Cloonee. Plus, let’s not forget the current Cloonee. I’ve always taken these comments as a compliment. It’s part of career longevity to move with the times, and to connect & grow with people at many different phases of your journey.”
“With this album I want to give you every Cloonee,” he continued. “An ode to myself. The old me, the current me, the new me and everything in between. Because, when I ask myself “are you still you?” The answer is a proud yes.”
After they teamed up for perhaps the tune of the summer on “Free Your Mind,” Cloonee and Prospa’s “Good Girl,” released late last month, serves as the first single from Cloonee’s forthcoming project.
The announcement arrives amid another jet-setting summer for the artist—born David Bissett— who has further cemented himself as a fixture of the global club and festival circuits across major recent appearances at Red Rocks, EDC Las Vegas, Bonnaroo, Amnesia Ibiza, Awakenings, and more.
