The Coachella 2017 lineup was released today, with the rumored headliners of Radiohead, Beyonce, and Kendrick Lamar.
Many of the artists that are included were also predicted correctly by various other websites including us, but there are also some that are huge surprises.
First of all, Hans Zimmer.
Coachella has always catered to a variety of genres, and they’ve always included curveballs that defy popular music. This is on some other level though. The maestro behind film soundtracks like ‘The Dark Knight’, ‘The Lion King’, ‘Interstellar’, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’, and dozens of others will grace the stage with a full orchestra. What a show that will be.
On the electronic music front, this lineup represents a somewhat decline of EDM. The number of big name rave DJs can be counted on less than two hands. Dillon Francis, Steve Angello, DJ Snake, Martin Garrix, Marshmello, and Galantis. Porter and Madeon don’t count because they will be performing their Shelter show, and Justice is not even close to being EDM.
However, on the underground front Coachella has delivered in fine style. Legends from the house and techno scene like Dixon, Loco Dice, the Martinez Brothers, Richie Hawtin, Sasha, and more will be present in the Yuma tent this year.
Passes for Coachella 2017 will go on sale January 4th and 11 A.M. PST. GA passes remained at their same price of $399, and multiple other ticket options are available as well. For more info go to Coachella.com.
