Atlanta’s DEF Announces Hometown Halloween Night Bass Showcase

DEF

DEF is bringing some of experimental bass music’s best to Atlanta for a hometown Halloween night showcase.

The Atlanta-based promoter and livestream outlet will showcase a slew of experimental bass and low-end dubstep’s brightest rising stars at The Eastern on Thursday, October 31, bringing its trademark 360-degree setup to the venue for the first time.

Among the artists set to perform are house-hero-turned-bass-boss Barclay Crenshaw, hip-hop-bass-hybrid artist and fan-favorite remixer Tape B, genre-melding freeform bass talent Super Future, and 140-BPM dubstep dynamo Kurei.

An additional “Open Aux” performance slot will be left open, with DEF inviting emerging artists to submit their mix for a chance to play. Submission process information will be shared next week. Check out the official announcement below.

The past few years have seen DEF emerge as one of the hottest underground promoters in the scene. While Boiler Room remains synonymous with 360-degree sets on the global level, DEF has led the recent push for the performance concept stateside, hosting renegade-style in-the-round sets from top DJs in unconventional spaces, like warehouses, tunnels, bridges, and even caves.

In addition to not-so-quietly spearheading Atlanta’s post-pandemic rave revival, the women-owned and led collective has expanded its reach nationally. Earlier this year, the brand’s 2024 DEF Tour touched down in cities like Miami, Austin, and Detroit, and this fall it will host its own curated 360-degree stage at Suwannee Hulaween.

Bass music remains a main focus, but DEF has dipped its toe into house and techno, too. Ahead of the Halloween blowout, the brand will host another landmark event with UK garage and clubland darling Jyoty and viral multi-genre selector Zach Fox on September 21.

Tickets for DEF’s Halloween night bass event will go on sale here tomorrow, Friday, August 23, at 12PM ET.
