Delta Air Lines Ranked As No. 1 Domestic Carrier For On-Time Arrivals, Service, Comfort + More

Delta Air Lines has been ranked as the No. 1 domestic airline for on-time arrivals, service, comfort and more, according to Bounce’s 2023 Airline Index.

Bounce, an hourly luggage storage company, compared U.S. airlines in a number of categories to crown their eventual grand champion, Delta, which secured a total index score of 6.05 out of 10.

The categories that Bounce considered in their rankings are as follows: on-time arrivals, cancellations, meal score, in-flight entertainment score, seat comfort score, staff service score, free carry-on allowance, free checked domestic allowance, free checked international allowance, and total airline score.

According to Bounce, Delta had the highest percentage of on-time arrivals and one of the lowest flight cancellation rates. Over 80 percent of Delta flights arrived at their destination on time and less than two percent were cancelled.

Delta also earned the highest scores for in-flight experience, with a three out of five score on in-flight entertainment, meals, seat comfort, and staff service.

Not far behind in second place, with a total index score of 5.56, was Southwest Airlines. Though Southwest only scored 2 out of 5 on in-flight experience, the airline made up ground with its baggage allowance policy, which lets customers bring two free checked bags, weighing up to 50 pounds each.

Hawaiian Airlines ranked third, with a total index score of 5.14, boasting the lowest cancellation rate of all domestic airlines, according to Bounce.
