Denmark is set to be the first country to end all pandemic restrictions nationwide. According to an article from Politico, the decision comes as a result of steady hospital admissions and deaths despite the increasing number of COVID-19 cases resulting from the Omicron variant.
“Tonight we can … find the smile again. We have incredibly good news, we can now remove the last coronavirus restrictions in Denmark,” said Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen.
The restrictions will officially come to an end on February 1, 2022. After this point, all restricted activities including club nights and festivals will be able to operate freely. Cursory mandates like wearing masks in public will be lifted permanently as well.
For festival-goers looking for an excursion to Denmark, Roskilde Festival, Northside Festival, and Heartland Festival are just three of the many major events Danish events that will now be able to run full speed ahead.
