Disco Donnie Presents (DDP) has announced the recipient of the Leon Jackson Memorial Scholarship.
The scholarship is a part of the Disco Donnie Presents DiscoU initiative which focuses on furthering a professional career path within the music industry. The initiative aids students from underrepresented communities at the Blair School of Music at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN.
The inaugural recipient of the Leon Jackson Memorial Scholarship is a junior violin performance major, Alexandra Maynard, from Houston, TX.
This scholarship is one of two initiatives DDP is heading up, the second being DISCO U: Shadow to Spotlight. This initiative is a shadowing program at DDP festivals that allows music business hopefuls to gain firsthand experience in the various areas of festival production.
Funded by a $100,000 donation from DDP, the scholarship is named after the late music and event promoter Leon Jackson, who was credited with bringing a large influence of electronic dance music to Nashville.
