DJ Holographic Announces Debut Album, ‘House In The Dark’

Detroit staple DJ Holographic has announced her debut album, House In The Dark.

The new LP will sonically explore each house of the zodiac, according to a press release, uniquely taking shape as a series of four three-track EPs to be released seasonally on her new label, Through The Veil.

DJ Holographic will deliver a new single each month over the course of the calendar year, with a grand total of 12 zodiac sign-specific tracks set to feature on the “extremely personal” body of work, said to channel her “deep ties to astrology” and “shadow work” practice.

Alongside recent singles “Aries” and “Taurus,” the first EP in DJ Holographic’s House In The Dark album series, due for vinyl release in July, will feature her newest track, “Gemini,” a delightful swirl of dancefloor disco, funk and house music, which arrived last week.

“Creating ‘Gemini’ had me exploring my house that involves relationships, from partners, business partners communication, and relation to things in my life,” DJ Holographic wrote of the track on Instagram. “Healing two-sided relationships from my past that were never upfront with their true intentions had me seeing double-masked faces, holding all the cards.”

“I slowly healed and left the masks at the masquerade to fully see people’s intentions with me before the betrayal,” she continued. “My Gemini brothers and sisters, this anthem is for you. A funky yet floaty—like the beautiful butterflies you are—twirl that will have crowds surrounding you like a disco ball.”

The trio of singles on DJ Holographic’s House In The Dark: Aries, Taurus, Gemini EP arrived just in time for her landmark return to Detroit’s Movement Music Festival last weekend, performing on Carl Craig’s curated Detroit Love stage.

The self-described “one-woman funk machine” will make other major tour stops at Circoloco’s DC-10 residency, Hï Ibiza and several special Pride events across the U.S. this summer.
