Dom Dolla has today released his anticipated summer single, “girl$,” out now via Three Six Zero Recordings, Ministry of Sound and Sony Music ANZ.
The fan-favorite house track arrives just in time for the dog days of summer festival season, having already invited en-masse sing-alongs from crowds across the country in the Aussie DJ-producer’s recent sets at Coachella and EDC Las Vegas.
Equal parts naughty and empowering, “girl$” combines hypnotically whirling melodies, heavy synth stabs, a healthy dose of kick drum, and the ladies-first rallying cry, “Girls don’t need nobody,” to make a gritty summer banger, perfect for long nights that stretch into mornings.
“‘girl$’ was inspired by a conversation I had with some friends who were all tired of bad dates… and had eventually come to the conclusion they were giving up on the whole charade,” Dom said of the track in a press release. “In ‘24 we have so much choice. Nobody is limited by who they want to love or spend time with… whether that’s a guy, girl, or even just relish in their own company.”
The strong vocal performance on “girl$” comes courtesy of accomplished singer-songwriter Caitlin Stubbs, Dom’s longtime collaborator and a credited songwriter on hits such as “Miracle Maker” and “Saving Up.”
In the coming months, Dom Dolla is slated for a huge run of one-off shows in Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and Denver, a debut headline at Ushuaïa Ibiza, and a massive Everything Always gig with John Summit at The Gorge Amphitheatre, in addition to landmark festival appearances at Parklife, Tomorrowland, and ARC, among others.
