Dutch future house producer Don Diablo is once again pushing the boundaries of dance music with a historic first: the world’s first official music video fully created by artificial intelligence (AI).
The new video, “Future Rain” is “a fusion of art, music and technology” that illustrates “an epic narrative of a resistance against an empire controlled by AI.”
“Future Rain” is based on the viral piano song “Rain” by social media musician Tony Ann, whose impressive skills landed him a position as a keyboardist on tour with The Chainsmokers in 2017.
“Rain” has garnered nearly 50 million views online and after Don Diablo created his own viral version, fans of both artists “begged for an official release.”
Soon after, the two artists met up in Los Angeles to make it happen, resulting in a “unique crossover between the traditional world of classical piano and the futuristic soundscapes of Don Diablo’s electronic music.”
In what could be the next phase in the evolution of music videos, “Future Rain” presents vivid colors, textures and incredibly lifelike animations.
Of the groundbreaking project, Don Diablo said:
“I wanted to explore the uncharted territory of storytelling and creativity coming from just one single person. The result is an immersive experience that not only pushes the boundaries of what’s possible but will hopefully also engage audiences on a deeper level when it comes to creating new creative work.”
“In the future creativity will become more democratic than ever, if we can dream it…we can create it,” he continued.
