Drake, the international superstar rapper, just surprised the world by dropping an EDM-filled album entitled Honestly, Nevermind. This album features tracks produced by some top dance music producers like Black Coffee and Gordo.
Gordo very recently retired his well-known project Carnage, finishing out the farewell tour in Australia on June 11. His production on Honestly, Nevermind gives fans a sneak peek into what’s to come for the Guatemalan producer. Black Coffee recently won the Best Dance/Electronic Album award at the 2022 Grammys for his 2021 LP, Subconsciously.
Melodic techno producers and Keinemusik bosses &ME and Rampa also contributed production to several track on the album as well.
The album starts deeper, with melodic and deep house-inspired tracks like “Currents” and “A Keeper”. But the songs “Liability” and “Jimmy Cooks” (Feat. 21 Savage) provide the signature R&B sound Drake is known for. All the tracks heavily feature raps and vocals by the Canadian, but with a sprinkle of a sound similar to Kaytranada and NAO.
Listen to the full album below. This collaboration between the three could mark a new wave of deeper electronic music into the mainstream audience.
