Empire Of The Sun Announce First Album In Nearly Eight Years

Indie dance icons Empire Of The Sun have set a release date for their first full-length album in nearly eight years.

Following the release of “Changes”—their first solo single in eight years—last month, the Australian electronic duo has announced that Ask That God will arrive via Capitol Records on July 26, 2024. The album will mark their first full-length project since 2016’s Two Vines and their fourth album in total.

Ask That God is said to represent “the greatest shift in consciousness our world has ever seen,” according to Empire of the Sun’s album launch announcement on Instagram.

“We always draw our inspiration from the world that has drawn us,” band member Nick Littlemore wrote on Instagram. “Be it a leaf or a mountain, an argument or an exhibition, a distant sound or a micro sleep. Empire has always been inspired and continues to find inspiration in all that is present around us.”

Ask That God will span 12 tracks in length, including previously released tracks “Changes” and “AEIOU” featuring Littlemore’s PNAU outfit, as well as a third single, “Music On The Radio,” which hit digital streaming platforms late last week. Find the full tracklist below.

“Music On The Radio” is a noted embrace of Empire of the Sun’s indie dance origins, with dancey synth lines that channel a carefree feeling similar to the band’s greatest hits in “Walking On A Dream” and “We Are The People.”
