Insomniac’s first Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC) parade has officially been greenlit by the Clark County Commission.

Government officials voted Tuesday to approve the “World Party” parade, which will shut down the Las Vegas Strip with a 15-float promenade on Thursday, May 14, to help celebrate the festival’s 30th anniversary. The event is free and open to the public.

Kicking off at 6PM on the day before the festival, the parade will start at the Las Vegas Festival Grounds and head south on Las Vegas Boulevard, before turning around near Resorts World and returning on the Strip to the Festival Grounds for a “culminating celebration that will last for a few hours,” Las Vegas’ KLAS 8 News Now reports.

In addition to live DJ performances confirmed by Insomniac founder and CEO Pasquale Rotella during EDC’s livestreamed lineup reveal, the parade will feature “performers, entertainers, and marching bands,” according to the commission meeting notes

After the parade, EDC Las Vegas returns to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway with performances from over 200 leading DJs from May 15-17.
