Flume Announces New Album, ‘Palaces,’ Shares Official Music Video For New Single, “Say Nothing”

Flume has confirmed the title and release date of his new album. The alternative electronic wunderkind’s third full-length LP is entitled Palaces, and it will be out May 20, 2022.

To celebrate the announcement, Flume, real name Harley Edward Streten, has shared the official music video for the album’s lead single, “Say Nothing.” Soundwise, the song adheres to Streten’s affinity for heady rhythms and intuitive sound design while the vocals of fellow Aussie musician MAY-A provide a stirring flare.

Visually, the video looks like a psychedelic combination of a nature documentary and a remake of the anime classic, Akira. High-speed motorcycle runs are contrasted by tropical plants and exotic birds, punctuated by some conceptual dance snippets and facial projections.

“This song is about feelings of post-relationship clarity,” says Streten. “We wrote the song midway through 2020 while the pandemic was still pretty new. I was really excited about the initial idea but it was only once I got back to Australia in early 2021 and linked up in the studio with MAY-A that the song really came to life.”
