One lucky fan has gotten their hands on an electronic music holy grail. Four Tet has donated a vinyl copy of an unreleased album to a raffle for UK-based charity, War Child.
The record, made by Four Tet—aka Kieran Hebden—in 2021 under his ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ alias, is the only full-length work made under this moniker. As such, it has become widely sought-after but has never been released on streaming platforms or in a physical format.
The self-titled record, ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ, was donated to Resident Advisor’s “Dig Deep” pop-up record fair, in support of The Right To Dance, a fundraising offshoot of War Child that “supports children affected by war through collaborations within the dance music community.”
Prizes at the event held last week included Audio-Technica turntables, a Xone mixer, and other gear, in addition to a number of records donated by artists like Midland, Shanti Celeste, and Call Super, as well as labels like Defected and Ninja Tune.
Four Tet also notably donated the first 1,000 copies of his album New Energy to Oxfam in September 2017.
Just last month, the producer shared that his newest project “is very close to being done and will come out in 2024.” The forthcoming album, provisionally titled TEXT055, will be Four Tet’s first full-length work in three years and will mark his 12th studio record.
A special live album of Four Tet’s May 2023 show at London’s Alexandra Palace was released last month as well.
