Fred again.. is popping up in New York City for a surprise show with Skepta and KETTAMA tonight.
After days of cryptic teasers and online buzz, the indie-dance superstar livestreamed a surprise “release party” on Twitch today for “Victory Lap,” his latest collaboration with fellow British music titan and legendary grime MC, Skepta. Fred was joined by his collaborator, who rapped over the new track, and later announced a surprise show at the Brooklyn Paramount tonight, June 17.
Fans will have to act fast if they want to grab tickets here.
Tuning into the stream from 4PM ET, viewers were treated to a live performance from Fred, who cruised through a bevy of new tunes—including unreleased collaborations with Skrillex, Underworld and KETTAMA, remixes of Röyksopp’s “What Else Is There,” and Desiigner’s “Timmy Turner,” and the new one with Skepta—as he waited for the mystery guest to arrive.
After Skepta’s performance, KETTAMA also joined Fred, chatting it up as they traveled from the undisclosed stream location to the venue, which remained a mystery until their arrival at the Paramount. The entire journey, from elevator rides to transport, was broadcast live. They even previewed their unreleased tracks on the car ride over.
Coinciding with the Twitch reveal, “Victory Lap” has also been officially released on streaming services. Blending an off-kilter bassline beat from Fred with Skepta’s inimitable flow and an ear-catching Doechii sample, the track marks the trio’s first-ever collaborative release. Listen below.
