The Berlin-based trio GHEIST have teamed up with powerhouse vocalist, SOFI to drop the first of two versions of their new song “Lose Control,” out now on their record label, Radau.
Known for their house and techno productions, “Lose Control” showcases the versatility of GHEIST, as this latest drop is a breakbeat banger and not their typical sound.
The song contains haunting but beautiful vocals from Grammy-nominated vocalist, SOFI. Starting with a catchy breakbeat soundtrack, the lyrics capture the feeling of ambiguity and confusion within relationships and ourselves.
SOFI shared with listeners, “I wanted to explore and play with the ideas of connection and desire. Seeking balance amidst tension, neither leaning too far in one direction nor the other, I find that decisions always seem to want to be made one way or another.”
She continued, “However, not resulting in a simple yes or no can keep excitement alive. I believe sometimes we create that sort of ‘drama’ in our own lives for that reason. I wanted to keep the lyrics ambiguous and open for interpretation.”
GHEIST is a group known to push the boundaries when it comes to electronic music. Their rework of Flume’s “You & Me” gained global attention for its catchy mix of genres. The trio also are helping to keep the underground alive, using their home of Berlin as constant inspiration to create new music.
SOFI was featured on deadmau5’s Grammy-nominated album, 4×4=12, providing vocals for both “SOFI Needs A Ladder” and “One Trick Pony.”
