Google Flights Now Offers A Price Guarantee Where They Will Pay The Difference

Google Flights has introduced a price guarantee, where they will pay you the difference if the price of your ticket drops after you purchased it.

Google Flights has long had a feature to let travelers know if a flight is low, high, or typical for the price they are about to pay. But they recently implemented a “price guarantee” badge certifying that you are paying the lowest price for certain tickets.

Now they are backing this guarantee with cash and will pay up to a $500 difference via Google Pay if the price does drop for that booking before you take off.

In order to qualify for the payment, travelers must sign into their Google account, set their region to the US, and their currency in US dollars. Flights must then be purchased via the “Book on Google” option and depart from the US.

The “Book on Google” option allows the customer to complete the booking using their Google payment and contact info, but the actual booking is still made with the airline.

They then select the guarantee and must download the Google Pay app and have it set up within 90 days of the departure flight.

A blog post from Google explains the new feature, “We then send you an email to let you know if the price dropped or not. . . . If the price dropped, we pay you the difference back in Google Pay. If the price didn’t go down, you can rest assured that you got the best price with Google Flights.”
