Google Honors Avicii On His Birthday With A Heartfelt Doodle

Happy birthday, Avicii.

Today, the pioneer of electronic dance music and the culture to follow would have been 32 years old. To honor the late legend (who was born Tim Bergling), Google created a heartfelt “doodle” that depicts the different phases of Bergling’s life.

The short but whimsical animation is set to Bergling’s chart-topping single, “Wake Me Up,” featuring vocals from soul revivalist, Aloe Blacc. In the video, there are snippets of Bergling playing guitar, producing music, hitting the stage, and traveling the world.

Bergling tragically took his own life back in 2018 at the age of 28, and this video coincides with National Suicide Prevention week.

“From producing hit songs that topped international charts to headlining festivals around the world, Tim will forever be remembered as one of the pioneers and most influential visionaries of electronic dance music,” Google said in a blog post dedicated to Bergling.

The blog post continued on to include an interview with Bergling’s father, Klas. Following his son’s death, Klas started the Tim Bergling Foundation with his wife, Anki, to help address mental health issues among youth.
